Status Effects

Status effects are temporary changes applied during combat. They come in two kinds:

  • Debuffs are harmful effects placed on a target (you or an enemy).
  • Buffs are helpful effects you carry, and many can be shared with your party.

This page lists every effect, what it does, and how to deal with it.

A few stats and tools decide how much status effects matter to you:

  • Resilience lowers the chance an incoming debuff lands on you.
  • Tenacity shortens the duration of debuffs that do land.
  • Cleanse Elixir removes damage-over-time and control effects from you.
  • Cleanse abilities let healers remove effects from allies.
  • Purge is found on some attacks and strips helpful effects off enemies.

Most effects refresh their timer if reapplied. A few stack (grow stronger each time), noted below.

All damage in Idle Wushu is either physical or spiritual. Effect names like Burn or Frostbite are flavor: what matters is the damage type and the extra effect each one carries.

BleedPhysical damage every few seconds. Stacks up to 5 times for more damage.
PoisonSpiritual damage every few seconds. Stacks up to 8 times for more damage.
BurnSpiritual damage every few seconds. Often applied to several foes at once by area attacks.
WitherSpiritual damage every few seconds that grows stronger the longer it lasts.
FrostbiteSpiritual damage every few seconds that also slows the target.
ShockSpiritual damage every few seconds that ignores the target’s defenses.
AcidPhysical damage every few seconds that also lowers physical defense. Stacks up to 3 times.
